Definition app good for
1. The entries for the Definition are not enough
2. It does have the audio but requires Internet connection
but totally it works fine
Last update (v3.3) seems to have fixed all the crashes that people were complaining about before.
Definitely a good app. A must have if you normally search stuff up on wiki. But needs an update with a home screen and more then 1 deffiniton in some cases. Other then that the setup is nice and not cheesy like some apps. Please improve :)
I am very pleased that I bought this inexpensive dictionary.
I was using another dictionary app, but I am very pleased that this app has the auto search. I can now begin to type in how a word is spelling and it will find it. I cant say that about the other app.
This is a great tool and i find myself using it all the time. The interface is clean and has many useful features. I would give it five stars but the app is painfully slow to launch - especially when you are in a hurry to get an answer in the middle of a lecture or radio show. I do recall having the app crash on me once, I couldnt reproduce it so no biggy. My criticisms should not be taken to mean the app is poorly designed.. Nothing could be further from the truth! Its a worth while investment if words are your interest.
Love the fact that I can listen to the correct pronunciation.
Some bad moments
Définitions are way too short and not always straightforward. Examples are barely displayed. Doesnt worth its price!
The app keeps on crashing. I couldnt even complete a word search!
The app crashes immediately after I type anything into the search bar!
Useless...
Unfortunately regardless of whatever I have attempted (uninstalling/reinstalling), it crashes immediately upon entering a word for its Definition. EVERY TIME!!!
If I could give no stars I would - or better yet - a negative start rating! ---> MINUS 5!
It wouldnt bother me so much if it had been a free download, but I paid for this version.
FAIL!
v 4.0
Ok, it works offline now, so I gave this one another chance.
Ive had it on my phone a couple weeks now, and can honestly say its garbage. Its consistantly stumped by even common words like: commotion and honour. It couldnt even come up with a bare bones Definition, never mind the synonyms I was after. What use is a dictionary that doesnt contain a full list of words?
It also fell flat on its face when I tried to use it to look up the spelling of words (yes, I still do that). Unless you get the spelling exactly right, its not going to help you. At least in a real dictionary, youd get yourself close to the right page, see whats around, and eventually work your way to the right spelling of the word (maybe even learn a few new ones in the process). Well, thats impossible with this app. It defines the word you typed in and gives you nothing else; no ref to similarly spelled words, no hint at the correct spelling, nothing. So again... useless.
I could go on, but either one of these reasons kills it for me. This app features them both in one poorly designed, incomplete package! Save your cash, and buy one of the other ones that pops up when you search "dictionary" in the app store.
v 3.3
Its a good dictionary. Interface is good, Definitions are good, yada yada yada.... But it doesnt work offline. That kinda kills it for me, because I do a lot of reading in places where I dont have wi-fi (planes, trains and automobiles etc).
If you could make this work offline, Id gladly replace my current dictionary with this one. Until that update rolls around though, this is effectively useless to me.
Shame, because its a pretty good app otherwise.
It is the most stupid and slow app ever, I tried to type very simple words and it doesnt have it also iPad spell checker is much faster and secured than this app, very funny as I was typing words, iPad spell checker figure it out and the app didnt even had it.
Total crap
